THE CONCEPT
It began with an idea of creating shapes into a horse using the barbering tools Gianni had grown up with. He then began deep research into the horse world studying breeds and their behaviour, hair type and growth patterns. After a year of casting across the UK, he finally met Annette Nally, an inspired horse whisperer who suggested Sandokan. Gianni commissioned Tim Walker and was responsible for the production, art direction and publication in i-D magazine.
